Scottish Thistle Canvas

The thistle is the flower Scotland chose for itself, and there is a reason for that. It is prickly, stubborn and it grows where nothing else can be bothered. Caroline paints it the way it deserves, in bold colour built up in layers so the heads catch the light differently depending on where you stand in the room.

A Scottish thistle canvas for a wall that needs a lift

At 600mm by 900mm this is a proper feature piece rather than something that gets lost above a sideboard. It works in a living room that has gone a bit beige, in a hallway you walk past twenty times a day, or in a country kitchen alongside timber and white. The colour is strong enough to carry a room on its own, so you can hang it and leave the rest of the walls be.

It suits a Scottish household missing home, and it suits anyone who simply likes botanical art with a bit of grit in it rather than another watercolour eucalypt.
